Expression

Every child is a capable communicator who expresses himself or herself in many ways.

  • Our educators engage in authentic, reciprocal communication with your children, where everyone participates as initiators and equal partners. We are attuned to children’s varied cues and modes of communication so that we may respond to their individual needs.
  • We facilitate successful communication between children. With our support, they learn to listen to and express themselves to one another while gaining competence in language acquisition.
  • We document children’s communication, and help them to revisit thoughts and ideas expressed in order to extend their understanding.
  • Time, space, and materials are provided to encourage varied forms of creative expression in ways that reflect social and cultural backgrounds. These activities encourage children to communicate feelings, experiences, ideas, and understanding of the world around them.
